Air Canada

Geneva - Montreal - Toronto. I love Air Canada. I love flying period, but Air Canada, is a true legacy carrier. You really have the feeling that they have been in the business forever and nothing will upset them or create a situation that will disadvantage you. Bless them. I have a whole row to myelf in economy in a half empty plane (better) and move to a row at the window where I am in total heaven, enjoying the economy food, having myself a few glasses of wine. Nothing can ruin my trip. Then I start talking to the staff who wants me to try the Canadian wine (much better!), and despite the fact that I know that flying and drinking is no good combination, I am so excited and enjoying my time so much that in no time I am drinking bubbles and get upgraded to First about three hours into the trip. I was fine in economy but yeah this is way better. What a gorgeous trip.

Continued Glamor

Amsterdam - Geneva. It's early, but never too early for a glass of bubbles (Tattinger) at Schiphol airport at around 7 something in the morning. I am on my way to Geneva where I will start my Free Air Canada trip to Toronto and Miami. How fabulous! I am always surprised that I am the only one that actually seems excited about travel and definitely the only one drinking champagne in the morning. I'll have about 2 hours or so in Geneva, not enough to make it to the lake, take a dip and drink a glass of Rose... now that would be glamorous.

Barcelona Morning Flight

Barcelona to Amsterdam, October. I wake up at 4:30 am in the morning to catch my 6 am flight. I have stayed at some new 5 star hotel, that looks more like a club than a hotel. The room is gorgeous and has one of those spectacular showers but no minibar, clock and in the morning the hotel arranges a taxi for me to get to the airport that drops me at the wrong terminal and overcharges me, so at 5 am in the morning I am having a fight with a spanish Cabby. ugh. Good to be back on board at KLM, lovely sunrise and land shortly after 8 which gets me in the office around 9am and I am still the first one there. So international.

Routine, leaving Ibiza

IBZ-BCN, October. It's been a gorgeous few days on Ibiza, so sunny and so relaxing. It's the end of the day Monday and I am flying to Barcelona, stay the night there in some fabulous hotel then catch a 6 am (!) flight back to Amsterdam. It's a school vacation so I couldn't get the flight home done in one day. I love rituals: I always drink some bubbles at the airport parking lot before I check in. Cheesy: Yes, but it's my way of saying: I love it here and I will be back. The flight to Barcelona is just 30 minutes and the plane is empty, lovely.

Doing it twice . .

Ibiza, October, BDI=10. I said yeterday that nothing is better than the day I had yesterday and I was wrong. It's better to do it all the same the next day as well, and so we did. More Champagne on the beach. A gorgeous full long sunny day.

Moet on the Beach

Ibiza, Escavallet, Oktober 09, BDI=10. There is nothing, nothing, nothing better than taking the scooter to the beach, stopping at Spar that -very fashionable- sells Moet & Chandon, then driving to the beach and having a gorgeous day out on the beach, knowing it's raining and cold in Northern Europe. The beach, so full just weeks ago is now deserted, but the water is still nice and warm and this is Ibiza, so gorgeous beach, fantastic sun shine, clear skies . . .it does not get better than this.
